This individual contacts a patient's insurance company to verify coverage levels and works with individuals to educate them on their benefits information.
Additionally, this individual works to meet State and Federal Regulatory guidelines, and complies with agency policies and procedures.
Ensures the duties are completed in a timely and proper manner.
Position
Qualifications:
3
years medical/dental billing experience preferred.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Associate's or more advanced degree preferred 3
experience in a medical/dental office, hospital, outpatient clinic, or other health care settings.
Knowledge of medical/dental terminology Minimum of one-year insurance verification experience Computer literacy Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Intermediate typing skills Knowledge of office machines Excellent phone skills with an emphasis on customer service Organizational skills Must have experience working with insurance companies, have extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies Ability to multi-task, detail oriented, organized ability to maintain accurate records, work quickly to process items in a timely manner, work well with others Duties:
Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for obtaining verification of patient payer benefits and eligibility.
This includes Commercial, Medicare/Medicaid Insurance Compile the daily eligibility worksheet for the front medical/dental office staff Communicating with patients via electronic messaging platform Provide accurate documentation of conversations regarding patients Acting as a resource to patients and communicating as appropriate with other family members involved in patient care re insurance coverage Utilizes sound customer service principles in relating to patients by negotiating effectively, resolving conflicts, seeking management assistance as appropriate, and responding as appropriate Scan insurance documents as needed for the Finance Team Serves as an integral part of the revenue cycle by working on accounts receivable Works under the direction of Senior Billing Specialist and assists with duties as directed Answer incoming calls as needed Assist patients and staff with billing questions Contacts:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear for extended periods of time.
The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to type, answer phones and forward calls.
Also should be able to reach items with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
