Summary:
Under general supervision prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, employees, staff, and visitors in accordance with established recipes and menus. Keeps work areas clean.
Essential Duties:
According to standardized recipes, prepares food and organizes cooking schedules to meet meal schedules. Inspects and tastes food for correct seasoning, quality, and proper serving temperatures.
Practices the standards of operation of Regulatory Agencies (i.e., Health Department, JCAHO and HACCP).
Prepares individual servings for patients as determined by daily food tally sheet.
Utilizes surplus food as directed by Executive Chef or designee.
Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, blenders, grinders, fryers, ovens, slicers and so forth, in the preparation of some food products. Portions, packages, and labels stored foods. Bakes items such as pies, rolls, etc.
Stores food items requiring refrigeration according to pre-established guidelines, cleans counters, equipment, utensils, and assigned work areas according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
Serves food in cafeteria and on patient trayline as needed.
Inventories and replenishes to a par level some food supplies such as sliced meats for sandwiches, ground and pureed meats and so forth.
Records refrigerator/freezer temperatures.
Compares invoices to delivered product for quantity, quality and correctness of item.

Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
Two years recent work experience in a healthcare field and/or large-volume food preparation,
OR any combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the capability to perform the duties of the position.

Weekends Required: Every Other
