Summary:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides support for nursing supervisor, clinical managers and nursing directors. In doing so will oversee administrative processes related to the Care Value System including software maintenance and upgrades, provide consultation with other department personnel. Also responsible for administrative processes related to coordination of patient companion (sitters) process including placement, and acquisition of staff to fill requested needs.
Serve as the facility Super-User for the Care Value System staffing/scheduling software by providing on-going end user training. Assist in facilitating current/new departments with any upgrades and go live phases with the Care Value System.
Essential Duties:
Coordinates the oversight of the computer processes of the Care Value System by:
Updating the system parameters to the care value system to reflect current budget data;
Processing the care value system information by performing the necessary computer functions and generating reports to assure accurate workload data for the individual nursing units.
Recognizing and reporting to clinical managers, errors in staffing entry or missing data by monitoring entries made on the units, to ensure complete and accurate staffing.
Collecting unit-specific patient admission, dismissal, transfer, and census data, from a variety of sources and enter this information in the various reports and /or spreadsheets as needed. Enters information into manager's dashboards as appropriate and designated by manager.
Creates end of month reports for nursing directors and managers with graphical representation of data and historical trends to be shared with nursing management team.
Serves as facility Super-user for the Care Value system software by being a primary resource for ongoing end user training, troubleshooting software problems and training of future software upgrades.
Coordinates with over-site of the computer processes for the Care Value system to provide workload, acuity(2011), admission, dismissal, transfer and census data to the clinical managers that is accurate and timely for use in reviewing staffing levels, and justification of staffing requests.
Tracks sick/absent calls along with the manager. Notifies manager as needed and initiates calls for staffing replacements.
Coordinates calls for additional staff when necessary using the staffing grid as a guide for appropriate staffing levels.
Reviews daily nursing schedules and completes daily staffing sheets while checking for accuracy, skill mix and proper staffing numbers based upon staffing grids and unit needs.
Coordinates staffing and placement of care companions (sitters) as requested by individual nursing managers/designee, to meet special staffing/patient safety needs. Create monthly companion cumulative usage reports for each nursing unit showing trends in use and patients needs.
Collaborates with nursing and/or quality with special projects as needed to produce reports, collate data etc.
Submits data into the National Database for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) website database, in order to obtain national benchmark data at the unit level.

Qualifications
Education:
Ability to read and write accurately, use a personal computer and phone, comprehend and communicate complicated written and verbal instructions at a level normally acquired through completion of 1 year Business education or Business-related course work.

Experience:
Approximately three to four years experience in office related work
Must me proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
One year customer service or related work required.
Strong ability to effectively problem solve and function independently.
Ability to type at 40 WPM without errors.
