Description Benefits Supplemental Questions
Incumbents of this class apply specialized diagnostic techniques such as X-ray, electrocardiograph, electroencephalograph and medical technology for patients, residents or members in state residential facilities. Work is performed under limited supervision.
Hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Examples of Work:
Takes X-rays of patients, residents, members or employees as requested by a Physician or required by facility policy. Determines appropriate X-ray technique including machine settings and patient positioning. Operates X-ray developing machine or dark room facilities to develop X-rays. Assists consulting Radiologists or staff Physicians in obtaining specialized X-rays. Attaches straps to patient and operates electrocardiograph machine to obtain readings requested by Physician. Attaches electroencephalograph electrodes to appropriate places on the patient's head and operates electroencephalograph console to obtain readings requested by Physicians. Obtains specimens from residents and performs a broad range of laboratory tests including, but not limited to chemistry, hemotology, urinalysis and toxicology. Draws blood. Fills out forms, labels and reports, and maintains files. Performs routine maintenance on equipment. Coordinates between the facility and medical diagnostic service vendors to obtain timely and technically adequate service. Cleans work area.
Qualifications / Requirements:
REQUIREMENTS: l8 months of experience in a medical diagnostic laboratory or graduation from a post-secondary program in X-ray or medical technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: the techniques of a medical diagnostic specialty including, but not limited to X-ray, electrocardiograph, electroencephalograph and medical technology; safety and sanitation standards applicable to the assigned diagnostic specialty; equipment maintenance, calibration and cleaning requirements for the assigned diagnostic specialty.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
