Engineering Technician (Drafting)

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Develops and reviews contract Architectural/Engineering services packages and prepares in-house plans and specifications for projects, including but not limited to:
Nonrecurring Maintenance (NRM), Station Level Projects (SLP) Minor and Minor Miscellaneous Construction Projects, Enhanced Use Leases, simple lease acquisition plans, etc. Serves as a technical advisor in the development and submission of the Ten-Year Strategic Capital Investment Plan (SCIP). Performs the resident engineer functions, including scheduling contractors and Architect/Engineering firm's activities with the hospital mission, inspecting contractor work for compliance with contract drawings and specifications, preparing and reviewing monthly progress reports and processing payment estimates, reviewing and recommending approval of contractor's submittals, etc. Maintains Master Construction Specifications and Drawings, a technical reference library of codes, standards and other regulations that are applicable to the construction industry (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, etc.). Develops and maintains NWI's customization of AutoCAD templates and layering standards. Routinely assists other services in troubleshooting operational and equipment performance issues focusing on and understanding the complex interaction of building systems to other healthcare activities. Provides guidance in the administration and design of construction, security and energy projects and assists other personnel in the resolution of complex problems. Performs Home Improvements and Structural Assessment (HISA) Inspector, Grant and Per Diem Building Inspector and the Contract Nursing Home Building Inspection for the Omaha/Lincoln area. drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:
Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. Certification:
Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-08 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience would typically include experience in performing at least three of the following tasks:
collecting and analyzing a wide range of engineering data; developing, designing, and drafting engineering projects; utilizing AutoCAD Software and specialized computer and printing equipment; explaining proposed engineering actions to leadership; interpreting and applying policies, regulations and procedures; OR, Education:
Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (TRANSCRIPTS must be submitted to receive credit for education). The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
